How to Replace the 110mm Field Lens with a 200mm Field Lens on a Fiber Laser Engraver?

Installation Steps

Step 1: Install the 200mm Field Lens

• Remove the 110mm lens by unscrewing it by hand.
• Install the 200mm field lens by screwing it in place.

Step 2: Re-adjust the Focus

• Adjust the focus since the focal length changes with the new lens.

Step 3: Field Lens 9-Point Calibration

1.Open Calibration Software

• Open the USB folder.

2. Place the Coupling on the Right Place of the Shaft

Locate the shaft on your laser engraver. ensuring it fits snugly in its designated spot. The coupling is essential for connecting the motor to the laser head, allowing precise movements during operation.

3. Fasten the Coupling with the Inlaid Screws

Once the coupling is in place, use the provided inlaid screws to secure it tightly. This ensures the coupling stays firmly attached to the shaft during the engraving process.

4. Fasten the Supporting Pole with the Screws

Next, position the supporting pole vertically on the base of the machine. Use the provided screws to fasten the pole securely. This pole supports the laser head and ensures stability during operation.

5. Put the Laser Head on the Supporting Shelf and Fasten the Screws to Fix the Laser Head

Carefully place the laser head onto the supporting shelf. Align it properly and use the screws provided to fasten the laser head to the supporting shelf. Make sure the laser head is securely fixed to avoid any movement during engraving.

6. Put the Gasket on the Top of the Pole, Circling the Lead Screw

Take the gasket and place it on top of the supporting pole, ensuring it circles the lead screw. The gasket helps reduce vibration and ensures smooth movement of the laser head along the pole.

7. Fix the Hand Crank Handle with a Screw and a Gasket

Attach the hand crank handle to the machine. Use a screw and a gasket to secure it in place. The hand crank handle allows manual adjustment of the laser head position, providing precision and control during setup and operation.

7. Adjust the Height of the Auxiliary Holder According to the Focus Length

Adjust the height of the auxiliary holder to match the focus length of your laser engraver. This step is crucial to achieve the correct focal point for precise engraving.

8. Fasten the Small Ring to Fix the Auxiliary Holder with the Right Focus Point

Once you have adjusted the height, fasten the small ring to lock the auxiliary holder in place. Ensure the holder is fixed at the correct focus point to optimize engraving accuracy.

How to Install the Drivers for Your Fiber Laser Engraver?

1. Open Device Management

Start by right-clicking on “This PC” or “My Computer” on your desktop or in the file explorer. From the context menu, select “Manage” to open the Computer Management window.

2. Access Device Manager

In the Computer Management window, click on “Device Manager” in the left-hand pane. This will display a list of all the hardware devices connected to your computer.

3. Locate the Device

In Device Manager, look for “USBLMCV2”, “USBLMCV4”, or “Unknown Device” under “Other devices” or “Universal Serial Bus devices”. These entries represent your fiber laser engraver that needs the driver installed.

4. Update the Driver

Right-click on “USBLMCV2”, “USBLMCV4”, or “Unknown Device” and select “Update driver” from the context menu.

5. Browse for Drivers

In the Update Driver Software window, choose “Browse my computer for drivers”. This option allows you to manually select the driver files from your computer.

6. Locate the Driver Files

Insert the USB drive that came with your fiber laser engraver into your computer. Navigate to the USB drive in the file explorer and find the folder containing the driver files corresponding to your Windows system. Select this folder and click “OK”.

7. Install the Driver

Click “Install” to begin the driver installation process. Follow any additional on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

8. Complete the Installation

Once the installation is successful, click “Finish”. You should now see “BJJCZ Device” listed under Device Manager, indicating that the driver has been installed correctly.

2. Open the Software

1. Access the USB Folder:
   • Open the USB folder that came with your fiber laser engraver.
   • Navigate to the “EZCAD for ComMarker” folder.
   • If your lens is 110mm, select the 110mm folder.
2. Launch EZCAD2:
   • Open the software “EZCAD2” from the selected folder.
   • You can enter “text”, import “picture” or “vector file”. For initial testing, it is recommended to select and test with text.

3. Import the Correction File

1. Open Parameter Settings:
   • In EZCAD2, select “Parameter (F3)”.
   • Tick “Use Correct File”.
2. Select the Correction File:
   • Choose the file ending in .cor from the USB flash drive (or the file that has been copied to the computer disk).
   • Click “OK (确认)” to apply the correction file.

4. Adjust the Focus

1. Find the Best Focal Point:
   • Use the up or down buttons to lift or lower the laser head until the three red light points overlap.
   • The point where these three red lights overlap is the optimal focal point for engraving.
2. Measure the Focal Length:
   • The measuring focal length for this machine is specific to the lens:
     • 110mm lens: _______ mm
     • 200mm lens: _______ mm
   • The measuring distance is the length from the bottom line of the laser head to the surface of the engraving material. This parameter is measured manually, and each device may have different focal lengths due to variations in laser sources and field lenses.

Note: Before the machine is out of the factory, we have done red light correction (for 110mmlens). At thepositionwhere the three red light spots overlap, the laser emits the strongest light. However, due to transportationreasons, thefocus point of the red lights you received may shift, and the focus point would not be the best focal length. Please operate as the following steps:

1. Place the Stainless Steel Test Plate

   • Place the stainless steel test plate on the machine table.

2. Adjust the Laser Head

1. Find the Best Focal Point:
   • Lift or lower the laser head to the best focal point, as indicated by the handwritten number provided.

   • Import the “TEXT” file for testing into the software.

Currently, laser color marking is limited to certain metal materials. The most common is stainless steel, followed by titanium steel.

Operating Procedure

Unlike engraving and color filling, where a groove is engraved into the surface of the material and then filled with color, laser color engraving directly uses a laser engraver to engrave colors into the surface of stainless steel. We use ComMarker MOPA fiber laser engraver as a case demonstration

Step 1: Design the Engraving Pattern

The pattern can generally be downloaded from a special image library or designed using Photoshop.

Note: the image’s colors should not have gradients and should be of a single color.

Step 2: Convert the Pattern into a File Compatible with the Engraving Software

The designed pattern needs to be converted into a vector file, such as AI, before being imported into engraving software like EZCAD or LightBurn.

Step 3: Find the Engraving Parameters Corresponding to the Colors

Import a color grid template and engrave it on a same kind of material with same thickness as the one to be used for the final engraving.

Note: While conventional engraving typically uses a parameter database, color engraving parameters vary with different engraving machines. Small deviations in laser components can cause significant color changes, including the laser source, galvanometer, field lens, and their relative distances. Even the same machine can produce different results at different focal lengths, requiring users to find the correct color engraving parameters before engraving.

Step 4: Assign Corresponding Color Parameters to the Engraving Pattern

Import the designed engraving pattern and reassign parameters according to the color grid template to ensure that each part’s color matches the design as closely as possible.
